It´s been a while...well, at least too much for mua. But I am happy to say that the adventure called "Lukuma" is on it´s way, this is many times the reason for my abscence. Sometimes I take a step back and look at what I have achieved so far, those tiny steps taken with so much effort, and I sigh... like a mommy watching her baby growing so fast. I have great love for this project, I feel blessed to be able to fight for something I love so deeply.

Ha sido un rato... bueno, por lo menos demaciado para muá. Aún así me enorgullese decir que mi aventura llamada "Lukuma" está tomando forma y a eso se ha debido mi ausencia. De vez en cuando doy un paso atrás, observo lo que he logrado, los pequeños pasos dados con tánto esfuerzo, y suspiro...como una mamá cuando ve crecer a su nene. Le tengo un profundo cariño a este proyecto, me siento bendecida de luchar por algo que quiero tánto.

Oilcloth Kitchen Curtains / Cortinas de Cocina

I love sunny Sunday mornings, but the way my house is built, it´s just plain aggresive to the eyes, especially in the kitchen. I used to have ugly white blinds that would do two horrid things:

1. End up all greasy and stained. No matter how healthy the cooking, they get sticky and are very hard to clean.

2. Melt. Literally.

I wanted something that I could easily wash, and would protect me from the morning sun without possibly setting my house on fire (that´s probably something I should consider important, right?). I found a way to create this without drifting far from my love for Bazaar Style decor:

Amo domingos soleados, pero por la forma en la que está construida mi casa, ese sol puede ser simplemente agresivo para los ojos, especialmente en la cocina. Solía tener feas persianas blancas que tendían a hacer dos cosas:

1. Terminar grasosas y manchadas. Sin importar lo sano de los preparativos, terminaban pegajosas y son muy dificiles de limpiar.

2. Derretirse. Literalmente.

Buscaba algo que facilmente pudiera mantener limpio y que me protegiera del sol sin incendiar la casa (¿esto puede ser un punto importante a considerar verdad?). Encontré una manera de crear esto sin alejarme de mi amor por la decoración Estilo Bazaar:This is probably the easiest project my sewing machine has ever taken on. I actually thought sewing oilcloth would be difficult, but it wasn´t.

I made 3 reversible shades mix-matching color and design.

Este es probablemente el proyecto más fácil que ha enfrentado mi máquina de cocer. Pensé que cocer esta tela plástica sería difícil pero no lo fué.

Hice 3 persianas reversibles combinando diseños y color.

Book Bag / Bolsón para Cuadernos

School starts next week. Yikes! I barely have anything done, so I´m on high speed. Ifinished Giaco´s Book Bag and on to Gala´s Mini Backpack...wish me luck!

La escuela empieza la semana que entra. ¡Ay! Prácticamente no he logrado nada, así que ahora voy a todo motor. Terminé el Bolsón de de Cuadernos de Giaco y comienzo la Mini Mochila de Gala... ¡deséenme suerte!

I used a thick denim fabric for this bag..and added one of Giaco´s designs in a recycled t shirt fabric on the front.

Usé una mezclilla gruesa para esta bolsa. Añadí uno de los diseños de Giaco a la parte frontal, utilizando una playera reciclada.

The lining is made from checkered cotton fabric and I added double fabric to the exterior of the bag on the bottom.

El forro esta hecho de un algodón a cuadros y usé doble mezclilla para la parte de abajo de la bolsa por fuera.

Double reinforcement on the shoulder strap and I recycled a cardboard box, covered it in fabric and placed it in the base of the bag to give it a more shapely form.

Doble refuerzo en el tirante y reciclé una caja de cartón, la cual forré de tela, y coloqué en el fondo de la bolsa para darle más firmeza a la forma.
